Origination Services
EMIT's origination group provides project management services to corporations seeking to develop their emission reduction and renewable energy projects within the regulated and voluntary carbon trading markets. During the origination process, EMIT works with the project developer to determine the strength of the project against defined market regulations and to advance registration and accreditation of eligible projects.
EMIT's origination services cover the major markets of the Kyoto Protocol including the project based Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) markets as well as within the non-Kyoto markets of the voluntary and renewable energy markets. EMIT’s origination services include the following: - Project identification and due-diligence;
- Project registration and accreditation facilitation;
- CDM/JI Project Design Document (PDD) development;
- Carbon project financing and contract structuring.
As part of the origination process, EMIT develops carbon project financing arrangements on behalf of the project developer to facilitate the financial success and bankability of the project. Through the introduction of sophisticated carbon and renewable market investors, EMIT helps structure a transaction to incorporate the additional revenue stream from the tradeable emission reductions either through equity participation as a distribution or through debt financing in the form of loan interest repayment.
